Tokyo

We decided to use Curtis "day off" he earned from his physical fitness test and go to Tokyo for the weekend. It was quite an adventure with 2 little kids in such a big city. It was a weekend of planes, trains and automobiles. I think we rode everything except a taxi.
The kids loved the Skyliner (like a bullet train kinda) because the seats turned around.
Brooke's new thing is making funny faces for pictures

Curtis did an excellent job navigating us threw the city

Day 1: DISNEYLAND
Wow, I have never been to such a busy theme park. It was CRAZY!

This is the only ride we went on because the wait was only about 35 minutes...for the carousel. Everything else was over 90 minutes. Try explaining that to a 2 year old.

We didn't get to meet any princesses, but we did do a tour of Cinderella's castle

We watched 2 parades and the kids loved that part. It was the only time we saw any characters there.

The one super nice thing about the trip was the hotel. It is a military hotel about 20 minutes from downtown and a 15 minute walk to the temple. All the other hotels in the area are at least 4 times as much. We were so grateful to get a room. Brooklyn loves to practice writing any time she can.
DAY 2: TEMPLE and DOWNTOWN
Curtis took the kids to the park across the street while I did a session and then we switched.  How blessed we felt to be able to go to the temple while we were there.

Downtown Tokyo was crazy busy. In Japan they not only have crosswalks that go on each side, but also ones that go diagonal across the street. When it's the pedestrians turn, watch out and hold on.

Sunday morning we went to church and then headed to the airport. We tried to pack all our food so this is Spencer eating raw cup o noodles because we couldn't find a microwave.

You can imagine how fast we moved with such good helpers!

What an adventure- made us really think about finding friends to watch our kids next time we want to travel.

Bring it on Vongfong and the parks and zoo!

A few more sandbags and we are ready for our first Super Typhoon! I have to admit, I am a tad bit excited! We will keep you posted...

The storm ended up being not nearly as exciting as I was thinking. We never lost power, there was no flooding, it was basically just 2 days of wind! I really shouldn't complain, I just thought it would be a better show.

It was good we didn't lose power so we could watch conference all weekend, and we found ways to entertain ourselves.

We have been enjoying discovering new parks in Okinawa. The Japanese excel at designing parks for kids- we can't wait to discover more!

We spend a lot of time at the park next to our house. Spencer has always been good at the motor skills and he never ceases to amaze us in that area.

We also went to the local zoo and Wonder Museum. The zoo was so small and we felt bad for the animals in their tiny cages, but the kids still enjoyed it.
