I am sure you have all heard that we will be moving to Okinawa, Japan this summer. We plan on leaving California July 2nd and spending about 2 weeks in Utah visiting family before we take the extremely long trip over to Japan. In case you have considered coming to visit, let me see if I can entice you a little more!
Okinawa has a gigantic aquarium- doesn't that look awesome!
I give credit where credit is due- thank you google for these beautiful images of the Okinawa beaches. Hopefully we will get some pretty sweet pictures of our own when we get there. We just want to get some of you excited about coming to visit. It is not cheap, which is why I am telling you now...so you can start saving your tickets (what Brooklyn calls dollars)!
We have already started to learn a little Japanese. It is my favorite when Brooke tries to say things. I think I might be able to speak a little of it (and I emphasize little) by the time we leave (3 years), but I don't think I will ever be able to read it or understand it.
Some fun things we have learned about our new home...
- The island is only about 70 miles long and 16 miles wide
- It is about 1,000 miles from Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Seoul Korea.
- There is a Kadena Military Branch which means we get church in English!
- Typhoon season is from June till November. They say it usually isn't too bad when a typhoon hits, you just stay in your homes for a few days and make sure you have some food storage. YIKES!
- It is always at least 50% humid, and that is on a great day! The temperature only changes from about 50-85 degrees all year long.
