I have been thinking a lot lately how I am not very good at keeping a journal. My kids are going to ask me what they were like when they were little and I am going to say "I have no idea, I didn't write it down". Since I plan on printing this blog and using it for our family photo album, I figure this is a great time give a little update on the kids.
The best part about having kids close together is that they become best buddies. Spencer loves to copy EVERYTHING Brooke does, and I mean everything. The other day Brooklyn was wearing a long dress and she pulled it up to run across the room. So of course Spence had to do the same thing. He pulled his shorts right up and pranced right after her. They can usually entertain themselves for quite a long time.
My favorite is when Brooke reads stories to him. Here is a video of Brooklyn attempting to read 5 Little Monkeys to Spencer. It just happens to be Spence's favorite book.
Spencer has such a different personality than Brooke. Right now he is 19 months old. He loves to go to bed at night with his "bay bay" or baby. He is an excellent eater and will usually out eat Brooke at any meal. He is a very sweet, loving boy. When I leave the kids with Curtis, he wants like 6 hugs before I go, then kisses, then more hugs, then wave goodbye. It takes quite a while to walk out the door. He is doing better at talking, but a lot of the time he misses the beginning of words.
"ik" means milk
"ack" = snack
ook = look,
He loves to say YUCK when you change his diaper or take out the garbage
"Ma" usually accompanies a hit on my leg or somewhere else. I guess he thinks he needs to hit me to get my attention, even if I am looking straight at him.
"Da Da" is said when ever he touches anything that is Daddy's that he knows he shouldn't be touching. Spencer also loves to wash his hands. If he sees the bathroom door open he says "han, han" and runs to go wash them in the sink. Kinda reminds me of someone I know :-)
Brooklyn is turning into a little lady. She loves to try to be the Mom and MAKE Spencer do things I have asked him to do. One day I told her that I was the mom and I would take care of it and she said "How about there be two moms- you and me?"That pretty much describe her in a nutshell. She is taking a dance class right now and I think she loves it. Every time we drive past she points out that she sees her dance class (remind you of anyone mom and dad?). She also loves to sing, usually at the top of her lungs, and pretend she is a princess. She is slightly obsessed with FROZEN and I blame that movie for the princess mentality. One day she told me she would be very mad if I didn't fix her hair like "Anna hair".
Curtis and I are doing very well. We are super excited for this new adventure we will be taking in moving to Japan. I am so proud of Curtis and all his hard work he has put forth in the past 4 years since medical school. He will be graduating from residency in less than a month and be a full fledged doctor. How did I get so lucky to marry such a wonderful man.
Last weekend we went up to Lake Tahoe (our first time and possibly our last) with the residents in Curtis' class. There were 12 residents plus their spouses and then 4 of us have kids. We stayed in a nice lodge/hotel place that had 14 rooms and then a community kitchen and living area. Although the company was not our first choice (we are not very close to any of the people in his class and it was obvious that they all hang out together and we don't), we still had a nice time at the lake.
We went out on a canoe and Brooke hated it the whole time. She screamed when her hat fell into the lake and then screamed when we tried to get it. Then she screamed because we were getting it. Spence sat there the whole time totally chill. I guess that is the difference between boys and girls.

Curtis was lucky enough to have the whole weekend off for Memorial Day so we thought we should try out Six Flags. Spencer and Brooke could have cared less for the rides (in fact, Brooklyn wouldn't even go on a single one)but they sure loved the animals. This walrus was awesome!
We went with our friends the Argyles. We are sure going to miss them when we move.
Enjoying a picnic at the ward campout!
